Mission Statement

Fayette County complies with Pennsylvania's Right To Know Law, which took effect January 1, 2009 and which guarantees citizens access to public records of governmental agencies, as defined by law.

On December 18, 2008 the Fayette County Board of Commissioners appointed an Open-Records Officer, adopted the state-based Fee Structure and also approved a Guide.   The Guide includes a Policy and Procedure specific to Fayette County and in accordance with state law.

Requests for access to public records, under Pennsylvania's Right To Know Law, are to be directed to the Open-Records Officer, as named above.

If you wish to have access to a public record, as defined under the law, please complete the Right To Know Request, as shown below.

Requests for a public record made in person will be filled, however, to take advantage of the appeal process requests must be in writing.

Fayette County will fulfill verbal, written or anonymous verbal or written requests for access to public records, however, if the requestor wishes to pursue the relief and remedies provided under the Act, the request for access to records must be a written request.

Fayette County has adopted the PA Office of Open Records Fee Structure, to be actual costs and up to costs, as listed.

There is no fee to view a public record.
