General Record Information
Fayette County > Register of Wills

The Register of Wills office has birth and death records on file from 1893 to 1905; after 1905, these records are recorded in New Castle, PA and can be obtained at PA Vital Records.

Prior to 1893, these records are not recorded except for family or church records.

We have on file marriage records from 1885 to the present time.

The Register of Wills has wills and probate records on file from 1784 to the present time; also our Orphans Court records are on file for the same period.

We now have the first 33 volumes of Will Books available on microfilm, thanks to a grant from the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission.

We will perform searches of our records but we need to have the FIRST and LAST NAMES and an approximate DATE of the event took place.

A $5.00 search fee is charged.
