When applying for a marriage license, both parties must appear in person in the Register of Wills' Office and must apply before 3:45 p.m.
Each applicant must be eighteen years of age.
If a prior marriage existed, the applicant must have a certified copy of a Divorce Decree or if a widow/widower, you must have the date of death of former spouse.
There is a three day waiting period before the license can be used.
The marriage license is valid for sixty days from date of issue.
If an applicant is under the age of eighteen years but older than sixteen years, you must have parental consent at the time of application.
If an applicant is under sixteen years of age, a Petition for Consent to Marry must be presented to the Court for approval together with the consent of the parents.
The fee for a Marriage License is $40.00; payable in cash only at time of application.
